About Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)

The Nigerian Public Relations Institute (NIPR) was founded in 1963. In June 1990, the body acquired the status of a Chartered Institute by Decree No. 16 (now the Act of the National Assembly), from which it derives the power and duty to register members, to define requirements of expertise to be acquired to qualify for practice, to regulate the practice and growth of the PR profession, and to track professional behavior through an established Code of Ethics. The law stipulates standard academic and professional requirements for admission to the Institute, as it is the norm of reputable professional organizations everywhere.
